Is Ginger Good for your Gut Health?

Banner Photo of Ginger, text reads: How Ginger can improve your gut health.

Ginger benefits your gastrointestinal motility - the rate food exits the stomach and continues through the digestive process. Eating ginger encourages your body to digest food more efficiently, this reduces the amount of time food spends in your gut.

That may not sound like an incredible benefit to your health however, the increased rate of digestion reduces bloating and gas caused by fermentations and constipation.

Ginger also has antioxidant properties which helps support cell health by managing free radicals - compounds that can damage cells when their numbers grow too high.

The effect remains for both fresh ginger root and ginger powder, which you can find in our Groovy Ginger Peach Energy Bars. We utilize ginger’s bright spice to balance the sweetness of the dates in our bars and to provide some functional health benefits as well.

For any questions about ginger or any other food ingredient and how it might affect your health, a clinical dietitian can provide information and guidance.
